It is important for Colorado to explore alternative modes of transportation to relieve congestion as our state’s population grows. We need to work to repair and improve our roads and highways, and explore public transportation options to prevent gridlock along the Front Range. It is important to encourage innovative solutions to the growing needs of our state.

Colorado is the most beautiful state in the country. Every day that we can spend outside is a blessing. I, like many others, came to Colorado for the wonderful outdoors, the hiking, the backpacking, and the breathtaking scenery. It is important that we protect our state’s natural beauty for all citizens, present and future.

In our society, it is an important right and privilege to be able to speak our minds regularly. We should encourage efficiency and inclusiveness in our elections.

It is important for Colorado to move forward in our energy investment. We must explore renewable resources as a way to power our society. Colorado’s 300 days of sunshine per year on average mean solar energy is a viable energy for our wonderful state. Fracking has a high cost for little benefit, and is not sustainable in the long run.

There should be a new approach to prisons in Colorado, to provide rehabilitation while limiting unnecessary luxuries to keep costs down. The goal of rehabilitation should be to ensure a contribution to society.

Unions are an important part of society when they collaborate and are not a hindrance. Effective unions improve the position of workers.

We need to move back to basics. Free Trade Agreements like the Trans-Pacific Partnership hurt consumers. It takes away jobs from our communities and makes it harder for companies to address consumer concerns.

An important foundation of American society and American history is the ability of each American to define themselves however they so choose.

I’m a strong supporter of the Second Amendment, but I do believe we need common sense legislation. Our society requires proper training and licensing to drive a car, and I believe we should do the same for firearms.

It is important during any pregnancy to consider all the health risks and mitigating factors. The health and safety of the baby and the mother need to be at the forefront during this wonderful time in a family’s life. I support common-sense legislation that gives parents the personal choice for a safe, low-risk abortion.

The minimum wage needs to be a living wage. The current state minimum of $8.31 is not high enough to support a decent living in Colorado. When businesses do their part to chip in by paying a higher wage, it means fewer people will have to rely on the government for a living through welfare. A higher minimum wage will increase worker independence and lead to a positive improvement for society

Genetically Modified foods should be labelled as a way to increase consumer awareness. There’s a difference between Genetic modification and the hybridization that has occurred over hundreds and thousands of years. Small farms and free ranged sources of food should also be given assistance as a way to get healthier foods to the tables of every Coloradan. Yes, healthy living costs more, but it is an investment in a healthy life. We need to get back to basics, where Farmer’s Markets and Organic foods are the rule, not the exception.
